Has anyone tried making their own nematodes?

Never tried it and never even heard of this, even though its supposed to be an old allotment trick.  I'd need an awful lot of nematodes to cover my plot but it could work.  Anthing is worth a try with the amount of slugs  we all seem to have this year.
