I was wondering if I need to put mite powder in the coop before the chicks go in there or say a week after theyve been in there? Also is there any recommendations as to what powder to use?

I did read a while back about hillfooters slurry mix, I was unsure where to get the iodine and disinfectant powder from though?

I would use it straight away. I think the powders are very similar really, I use Diatom because I can buy it in big buckets (it's cheaper and lasts longer that way).

Also I am wondering if the mite powder used on the chicks is seperate from the powder used in the coop

No its all the same i use the powder after every weekly clean

If the coop is new you shouldn't need to use it before putting your hens in. I've never needed to use it, (so far), just regularly check for mites.

I think it would be best to use it straight away as prevention is always better than cure, also cheaper in the long run too lol.
