broody hen?
« on: June 12, 2012, 11:29 »
Hi, I am new to chicken keeping.
I have 4 hens that are 25 weeks old.
One appears to be broody: she is spending lots of time sitting on one of the nesting boxes & is unhappy if disturbed.
Please can anyone advise me how to deal with this
Thanks

I have also had the same problem - I did not want chicks.  I followed advice given by forum members.  Put hen in a cage with a wire bottom with food & water for 48 hours.  I was a bit concerned at night so ended up putting cage in back of my husbands land rover over night.  This appears to have worked a treat.  Thanks all for the advice.
