Years ago we had a carpet delivered and it was left in a roll on side of the stairs.
The next night I woke up with the feeling that something had touched my hair. Then I heard a rustling. I switched the light on but could not see anything.
Later on I saw a mouse running up the curtains in the light from the street light.
I slept downstairs for the rest of the night.
After work I searched the whole room and found a fruitgum on the window ledge with teeth marks in it, and a small furry body which slid out of a slingback shoe as I picked it up.
Moral of story, don't live on a diet of sweets alone.
Reminds me of when Dad was putting in central heating, with the floorboards up mice moved in.... I woke up one night and there was a mouse in my bedroom, we tried to catch it without killing it, but it was faster than us, in the end I lost my temper, well it was about 3am, threw my slipper at it and killed it
Another time, Mum always put the oven on before opening the door, this day she did it the opposite way about, door open first..... luckily, because on the shelf was sitting a mouse! He could have been roasted as it was a gas oven!
