Potato harvest yet?
« on: June 26, 2012, 17:25 »
Other than in polytunnels etc, has anyone had a decent crop of spuds yet?

I keep having a furtle (my new word of the month despite its seedier connotations) underneath mine and the biggest are less that 5cm diameter. The reason is brutally obvious of course - the weather. The soil feels as cold and wet as it did in winter

I dig up one 1st early as it's damaged by wind, I got 7 decent sized potatos, but they are over4 weeks late than schedule because the wet weather.
Rain at night, sunshine all day long!

Had my first meal of pots (Charlotte) yesterday. One root - two handfuls of nice but small spuds. Will give it another week or two and try again. Vivaldi yet to be exhumed.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
