these tomato plants have been outside for the last couple of weeks,so I guess it could be

this is a  koralik tomato,I saved the seed from last year

all the koralik did really well last year compared to the other varieties I grew

here`s hoping you have good news for me and the plant only has a few minerals missing  :)

It doesn't look like blight to me - probably a nutrient deficiency of some kind

have a look at the RHS page

That is not blight. Blight is brown blotches. It is almost certainly magnesium defficiency. There is probably enough nagnesium in your compost and most feeds have some in them. The plants may be outgrowing the roots which cannot take it up quickly enough.

You cannot restore those leaves but you will prevent it affecting any more by applying epsom salts with a can or spray to wet the leaves. 20grams per litre of water. Aviod bright sunlight or you may scorch them.
http://apps.rhs.org.uk/advicesearch/profile.aspx?pid=456

You may also see magnesium defficiency in potatoes as small brown spots on the leaves. Like tomatoes these are between the leaf veins.

Spooky - I've just posted about my potato leaves looking just like this - and magnesium deficiency was suggested...the two plants are related, so it would definitely be worth looking in to.

Hi Carollan,
My plants have been doing the same and I thought it was wind damage or lack of magnesium.I have treated with epsom salts ,not much improvement. After looking on the net,it seems it might be lack of potassium so I'm going to try that.

It looks a lot like grey leaf spot rather than  blight, which is more serious. I can see typical bits of grey in the centre odf some of the spots on the right  It's still a fungal infection though. Remove all infected leaves from plant and burn them. Then wash your hands thoroughly after that. Spray all unaffected foliage, stems and fruit with Bordeaux mixture (copper sulphate solution) every week. That should control it.

Be very cautious when adding "straight" elements (like potassium) to your plants - soil chemistry is very complex and it's quite possible you could create a different "deficiency" if you upset the balance. A good tomato fertiliser should contain all the potassium your tomatoes need if used as directed, plus adequate amounts of trace elements such as magnesium (check the label.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older
