My container garden :)

I can't actually think of anything else I could plant!

Hopefully I've ordered everything where the taller plants shouldn't cast shade on the smaller once they are grown.

Also everything is accessible without bending or leaning over too much, and I'm not stretching over too far when I'm watering either :)

My goodness, where did you get those mammoth pots from?

Or are they just tiny little sheds?  :tongue2:

They are chicken coops, sadly empty at the moment, so the pots aren't *that* huge ;)

Ooh, you got some of the pink containers!  :D I've got line green & orange for my runner beans, broad beans and cues. They're great aren't they?
Looks really good Casey.  :)

That was my first thought too, then I remembered about the chickens.

They all look great Casey  :D

PS there is an empty pot down in the right hand corner so you can treat yourself to something else.....  ;)

Looking good Casey!  I love the big grey containers.  Are they the ones you mentioned the other day on another thread?

The pink ones (and auntiemogs' green ones) look like plastic trugs.  You did put drainage holes in them, didn't you?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I am sorry but that photo just confuses my brain (not difficult sometimes) it like one of the photos they take high up with a special lens that makes every thing look like a model village
some people are like slinkys......they're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face as you push them down the stairs!!

Hi Yorkie... yes I did put drainage holes in them... and they are actually sat on battens too, so they aren't on the ground.  Plus they were only 8.90€ each - which is waaaaay ess than a plastig "pot" of the same size/volume (up to 50€!)

I admit that the grey and the terracotta containers were quite a lot more expensive, but they will last for years, hopefully, as they are made of UV resistant plastic.  And they are so light to carry around (and stackable for storage during winter).

Hi starry, sorry that my photo confuses you :)  the bottom one was taken from my terrace, which is on the first floor, so it is about 4m off the ground, and of coruse, from an angle too... but i thought it gave a nice perspective of how everything is layed out :)

Looks great - but - is the soil underneath the pots no good for cultivating?

Kirpi, it is, except there are about a million nettles and their roots which need  pulling out.

I got a really late start this year, as up until the middle of May, this was my chicken pen, and it was completely bare of growth (apart from the big bush of nettles)

When my last two chickens were killed I decided to have a rest from chicken keeping for a while, and broadcast grass and flower seed in the pen to brighten it up for the summer.  Then I remembered I had a whole bunch of seeds from a few years ago and decided, on the spur of the moment to try to grow some salad/toms etc over the summer.

This is when I was a lot more organised back in 2009...

I will probably dig it all over and start again in the Autumn.  I have made quite a lot more space now, and I really want to try growing potatoes and more brassicas.  But I need to get all of the chicken huts out of the way, the ground prepared and de-nettled etc :)
