I may be moving into a quiet one way lane that has a tall security fence opposite where I will live on a narrow strip of vegetation. It's a metal fence made of horizontal posts that is at least 6 foot tall.

I think I would like to plant fruit, herbs, veg, etc along it to train up.

Apart from raspberries and runner beans, can you suggest any other ideal things to grow up the fence?

It's in Scotland so don't suggest grapes....

Does the fence belong to the house you'll live in, if not should you be growing permanent things on it? perhaps not.

I'd stick with climbing veg, like beans, small squashes and some courgettes will also climb

I grow the following successfully against my (Scottish!) fence. They seem to like the shelter and you can tie them in using wire if necessary:  rasps, currant bushes, rhubarb, tayberry, blackberry, chives, peas, sunflower, sweet peas.

It's a long fence!
