I have run out of chick starter and my Light Sussex and RIR are now 4.5 weeks old. 

Went to buy growers feed today but they have none left so can i feed organic layers pellets crushed up? which i have a bag of.  It is certified organic layers pellets so shouldn't have anything other than natural stuff in so i thought would not hurt in any way?

it will not have the correct amount of protein and minerals needed for the growth spurt you chickks will go through. It will also contain too much calcium for young chicks which can be detremental to their health

OK got a bag today.  Do i just keep piling it into them just fill the feed container and let them take as much as they like?
