Potatoes and leafmould
« on: September 25, 2012, 21:39 »
I have a large bin of well rotted leaf mould.  Can I dig it into my potato plot over the winter or will it effect them when they grow?  Anyone with any experience of this please?

I always add loads of leafmold to my veg gardens. It's loaded with good stuff for plants and the worms love it and kindly deposit their 'leavings' to further enrich the soil. Potatoes love rich loose soils and will do well for you.

I use leaf mould for my carrots, and use either/or manure and rotted grass mowings for the spuds

You can never have enough leaf mould  :D
