Or at least in pots ;)

Climbing beans Neckargold and Blauhild
Climbing pea Roi des Carouby (mangetout)
Dwarf beans: Tendergreen and Declic
Cucumber: Robin and Lemon

I also have assorted tomatoes bought as plants, and a courgette "nice de rond"

Now I'm just waiting with baited breath and hoping that some will come up ;)

Hi Steve :)

Alsace, France is classed as temperate, though we have hot weather in summer (approx May - Sep, peak temps in July and Aug have been about 35ºC (95°F)) and cold weather in winter (approx Nov - Mar, trough temps in Jan and Feb have been down to -25°C (-13°F) the past couple of years.

Although we can have very nice weather from March onwards, it isn't safe to plant anything susceptible to cold out until well into May.  Similarly, although the weather can continue to be warm well into October, we can have frosts at the beginning of September.

In my village many people have quite extensive vegetable gardens, tough tomatoes and winter hardy veg (cauli, cabbage, leeks etc) tend to be the mainstay.

Last year I was able to grow winter type vegetables all winter. We usually Have only a week or two that are above 100f. I can wait to eat veggies.
