MULBERRY TREE WITH NO LEAVES
« on: May 23, 2012, 18:28 »
Hi everyone - a question about mulberry trees - I have one next to my vegetable plot and each year it grows fine. Here it is May 23rd and the tree has nary a leaf on it. Do they have a dormant period? Are they late this year in the UK or could it be dead for some inexplicable reason? Any advice/suggestions welcome. (All my other trees are in full leaf)

They are Deciduous which means they loose their leaves in winter and go dormant... the weather has been so cold it is still sleeping..

I'm right near the border of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire (Desborough near Kettering). Just checked it closely and there are tiny green buds just showing. I am relieved - I thought it was dead! Thanks everyone for your replies!

Glad it is ok. I really hate to lose a tree, especially an established one. :)
