I have had to clear a new piece of ground for my potatoes this year and only just finished and got the potatoes in.  My earlies went in fine in the middle of March, but these are my 2nd earlies and my main crop.  Is this ok?  And will I just have to wait longer for them to crop, or will they be less productive?

They should be fine, you'll just have to wait the usual period of time for them to be ready to harvest according to type.

I've planted in May the last two years and in fact you don't have to wait for quite the usual period as the soil and ambient temperatures are warmer and they grow faster.
