timber treatment for my duck house

hello again people  :D

any ideas or recommendations for treatment for the duckhouse i'm building???

any nasties to avoid or particularly safe ones?

was gonna go for a water based one as i thought that'd be likely to be safe but would rather check with your extensive knowledge before i go and buy some this afternoon   :D

thanks in advance

dave

cheers munty,

would you not at least varnish the inside first?

the woods bare obviously at the mo and i'm thinking with regular washing down varnishing would generally prolong the life of the house.

would condensation/damp be a problem if you treated the insides?

this isn't something i'm very knowledgable about at all but just an idea - am sure mj will put you straight

well not in terms of where it's going to be situated but i think you mean the sides being varnished and holding condensation?

it wasn't so much the sides i was thinking of it was the floor and washing it down, i'm going to hinge it so i can drop it down to the floor from the back so if the ducks are in the run it can be cleaned and the ducks can be inside the run at the same time if it's not practical for them to be out at the time, just trying to cover all options as i go along lol
