Pineberry & Framberry
« on: May 09, 2012, 15:36 »
Good afternoon all, hope you're all well.

I've made a new purchase, albeit a rather expensive one, and bought 10 Pineberry & 5 Framberry plants on-line.  The plants were approx £2 each and as they were bought from different websites, the overall postage wasn't particularly cheap  .  However, I am quite excited about growing them!  Has anybody else succumbed to these berries and what did you think of them?

Anything other than the "norm" and I just have to try!

 :D

I have just planted strawberry 'anablanca' which I think is actually a variety of pineberry, it is certainly white and supposed to taste of pineapple. They have only just gone in though so I can't comment on the taste. Reviews that I have read on line seem to suggest they may not be the tastiest ... but they were not necessarily home grown, and how often do supermarket strawberries taste that good? I decided to plant just a few and see how they go. The framberry sounds nice, I have not come across those for sale. I too love to try something a bit different.

Thank you for that link Matt.  AllotmentAnn, I just hope our white strawberries taste good! As you say, supermarket ones, which we can pay silly prices for, are usually tasteless.  I have paid over the odds for my new plants but I'm hoping that it will be the last time I have to buy them as I will plant up the runners each year. And Sunshine, your link made me chuckle!
