All my strawberry plants now have flowers, I understand that I should now feed them once a week, what is the best feed to ensure nice fat juicy strawberries? It has to be something I can buy from Homebase etc as have no comfrey or anything like that to make any kind of teas.

Now would be a OK to give them a liquid feed of tomato fertiliser, but even on my poor soil I certainly wouldn't be feeding them again until after fruiting (mine are everbearers so will probably get a sprinkling of growmore or similar after the first flush, but that's about it other than a similar dressing when they first start growing again after winter.)

Too much feeding can encourage poorly flavoured fruits and/or too much leaf growth at the expense of strawbs.

ahhhhh I have got my flowering and fruiting mixed up  :blink:

I will give them a little tomato feed and then wait till they start to develop the fruits, I put some in some small hanging baskets 1 plant in each with Wickes bark as a mulch, 2 of them completely died and the other just seem to have leaves rather than any flowers, thinking I might transplant them somewhere else today. I thought it might be the bark but I have some more in containers with bark as a mulch and they have flown away, maybe the drainage in the baskets is a bit poor, I did punch loads of whole in the liner though.

Learning curve, I must make more notes, terrible memory!
