hi ya  does any one no if howard gem rotervaters are still available, in the 70s when iworked at the RNRS, i used one to turn over the rose beds, to start it you had to put a cordite plug in it then turn the starting handle , there was a bang then a cloud of smoke then it was on its way, if ican remember it had 3forward gears and 1reverse there was no stopping it once it got going..............pete

They are still around and working their way steadily into Allotmenting history... a long lived reliable machine it would seem.

No longer manufactured as far as I know... stopped before the 1980s arrived.

Apparently the production company went into receivership in 1985 although the rights to the name were bought by another company. A variant of the Gem was produced into the 1990's until new regulations killed it off for good.

I recently sold one on Ebay. I was amazed at the interest in it.

They seem to be a very well known and much loved machine. Maybe the bright orange helps?

Browsing "Blocket" does not require fluency in Swedish - most words are the same as in English anyway (though you might find them to be spellt rather funny).
"All" Sweds master some degree of English - hence you can always write to the seller in English; and expect a reply

there,s quite a few this time of year on ebay,there making good money ,anything from £300 to £1200-£1400.always fancied getting a howard gem ,in my opinion well worth the money if you look after them they will last a life time

I have never had the chance to play with a Gem. My little 200 is a brilliant machine even if it has no reverse.

Started first pull again this year after 12 months snooze. Such a shame the Howards are no longer made.
