Today I planted some strawberries in a raised bed that is only 3 ft square I put the plants around the outside only. Could I plant a cucumber in the middle or would it need more room than say 2 ft square.

by the time the strawberries have put on a bit of growth there won't be  anything like 2ft left in the middle. The cucumber would be getting big just as the strawberries will so there won't be enough space.

This year you may just about get away with it if you tie the cue up a wigwam. Next year the strawbs really will want all the room.
