Hi!  I'm trying to find a pecan nut tree and I think it may be non-existent in this country.  Do you think if I can't find one, I could grow one from a nut?

Don't know any sources for young trees, but I just wanted to make sure you know that pecan trees will grow to over 50 metres tall and almost as wide. And, for better pollination, that two trees are needed. They are self-fertile but do produce much better with a 2nd pollinator. They also have aphid problems and need regular nitrogen and zinc feedings to maintain good health.

If you can't find any young trees, then get hold of several unshelled pecan nuts, crack them and pot them up. You should have something growing fairly soon.

Thanks Trillium!  I grew up in the USA and Pecan trees just abound and were almost considered a nuisance.  I figured if I can grow magnolias over here, surely I can do a pecan tree.  Guess I'll just have to get cracking nuts!
