Unlike plants like sweet corn and runner beans they don't even have the decency to sulk first (they leave that to you!)

They are certainly challenging, but here in Sheffield (location-wise, neither particularly norf nor sarf) I've had more successes than failures with them over the last 10 years.  :)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

yep i agree with that - sowed around a dozen cuc's this year and only had 1 death - and that was my fault  ::)

OK, I'm a LOT further south than you, but I've never had any problems growing cucumbers outside :)

We have never had problems with cucumber either, the first year we managed indoor cucumbers outside too.
Thanks
Kris

these are mine at the moment, when are they ready to be moved on?
and how big a pot will they need?
these are in the house still as too afraid to put them in the greenhouse yet overnight.
varieties are marketmore and burpless and will be grown in greenhouse.

these 2 take all my time, whatever is left the veggies get, poor hubby is at the end of the queue.

Even the most advanced of your seedlings has barely got a true leaf yet, so it's too early to be re-potting them.

They are showing signs of legginess and leaning towards the light - can you put them in the greenhouse during the day and back in the house at night?

I suggest that 12" pots should be the minimum size for their final home, but larger would be better.
