Are leeks okay for chooks?

Now I'm down to clearing the last bit of the plot, and having far more leeks than I have the enthusiasm for, will the chooks like a nibble on them, to save them being wasted?    ???

I just did a search on the internet with mixed results. My first thoughts were no as leeks are related to onions and I have heard that onions aren't suitable for hens.

Having said that onions are also related to garlic which can be good for hens. I think if it were me I would play safe and start looking up some recipes with leeks! Hopefully somebody else will be able to advise.
