If you get a move on, you'll probably get away with it.

Try and take as much soil as possible with the root.

It will certainly set them back for a year. I dont think they will collapse and die. they are weeds. I am still clearing the suckers the roots throw after digging out the main plant two years ago.

Mine have all got several inches of new growth so I wouldn't risk it.

Weeds is right! I sunk a 'wall' to stop them going in one direction but they've just moved sideways and I now have new plants coming up three feet from the parent!!

I was given my raspberries at totally the wrong time of year, (July), when a fellow plot holder was thinning his out.

I now have a 32' x 6' hedge of them, so that's testament to the fact that they can be moved outside the recommended times.

Would agree with the "weed" spreading, originally planted  6 autumn variety canes 24 months ago now have at least 60 this year!
