those two options do not cover anywhere near the full reasons.
How strong are the shells of the eggs? Does she have access to a calcium supplement - this could be crushed baked egg shells, crushed oyster shell etc.

I second that joyfull, if she is laying softies she will be more likely to eat them.  They don't want rotting eggs in their nest box.

My girl who lays softies eats hers if the others don't beat her to it. 

Is she only eating her own eggs and not any others or is she your only hen?
