Chum of mine kept a slow worm in his shirt for days Cats!

He reminded me of it - forty years later...;0)

They are utterly gorgeous, with colouring you'd die for!

With some trepidation, I have to admit that their faces are so stunningly beautiful...

Wasps, hate them. I'm not scared of slugs but it's vile when you're pulling out weeds and grab one...euurrrghhhhh  :tongue2: (Saying that, I did that last year, then realised it was actuallya large newt - oops! Moved it to an untouched part of the plot)
Earwigs give me the shivers, especially when they swarm out of sweetcorn, and I do cringe a bit when I uncover loads of bitey things - I have a number of red ants nests on the plot.

The only other one that actually gives me the creeps is the Harlequin ladybird. Dunno what it is, it just looks..malevolent. All those spots.....I'd never kill one though, I just avoid them, cos they're spiteful like wasps, and will just bite you for the fun of it....

don't mind creepy crawlies. i guess all creatures have a small job to do around the garden, so let nature be.

got over my own fear of spiders and millipedes. love worms, if i dig soil and find one i just pick it up and throw the worm else where incase i don't cut or stab it with my spade or fork. millipedes just pick and throw else where. slugs i hate, even if i try to pick them i can't remove the smily goo off my fingers. dad bury's them in the ground with a good firm hit on the top and few swear words   :tongue2:.

i just don't like the fox. He/she is a regular visitor and poops on the grass  and digs the plot up and i'm not very happy about that. blocked all the holes and maybe later on in the year i will let him in when everything has grown up

I have one phobia and that is Wasps, I develop a cold sweat and will run a mile!

It all goes back to when I was 13 and was in Bushy Park (a huge parkland in west London), myself, my sister, a mate and his sister went there with his dad, all great fun until I put my foot down a rabbit hole, unfortunately the rabbit wasn't in as it was home to a wasps nest.

The wasps attacked all of us, but as it was me that had the honour of finding it was me that caught the brunt of the attack.

Once we got home my mum had counted a total of 36 stings on me

Oh and I am 42, 16 stone and 6ft tall, and still quiver like a baby when I see one!!  :D

I hate those too. Last year i'm sure what i sure was a hornet wasp hovering not far from me, it had a slighly redish brown colour with yellow and i dropped everything and flipping legged it in.  :nowink: it was about an inch big. i still remember it like yeaterday when i think of it. i normally flap my hand about if i hear a buzz but i had no intention of disturbing its peace.

dancing in the garden trying to dodge the wasps etc

my OH has huge phobia of wasps/bees - I'm lucky and they don't bother me - he's over 6ft too and is rather funny to watch him dancing around to get away from one     (sorry to laugh, I do the 'slug dance' too and I'm sure it's just as funny to other people if they see me   )

My strapping 6ft plus son is exactly the same with wasps and bees and spiders and creepies. Complains wholesale if we eat Sunday dinner in the garden. Think it might be my fault for taking him to see 'Honey I shrunk the kids'. Sequence in it where giant bees come towards the audience. Never seen a 6 year old leap over the seat behind us to get away, quite so quickly before.

Hubby is wary of wasps, but he has reason to be; he is allergic to wasp stings.

Have to admit to being terrified of spiders and creepies myself but since becoming a born again gardener I am a lot less frightened. Can tolerate all but the biggest wolf spiders now. :)

And leave spiders on the kitchen ceilinig to deal with the flies. Not in any other room and certainly not in the bedroom ;)

Am OK with worms so long as I have the garden gloves on.

I found the most beautiful slow-worm this morning!  He/she was about 9" long, with gorgeous orange colouring, and he/she was so worried and stayed sedentary until I put him/her into some long grass nearby, and escape was made!

We found several more last year, and I had a sleepless night once, because one got stabbed by a fork during some digging.

I would never, ever want to hurt these delightful creatures.

One of our chickens killed and partially ate a slow worm! Not a pretty sight.

I wouldnt say I'm frightened of any of the aforementioned creatures, but I do jump when ANY of them surprises me, like yesterday when I was getting the bbq ready and a mouse jumped out!
