Should I worry about my seed potatoes?
« on: March 21, 2012, 10:03 »
My seed potatoes eventually arrived from T&M but I am worried. The bag (plastic) containing the Yukon gold had one completely rotten potato in it and a number with round demarcated areas about 0.5cm across which are darker in colour and slightly sunken and soft. They appear to be areas where the potato is rotting but in very precise little circles.

Have I got a problem or is it just a poor quality batch?

ring them up and complain They're not the cheapest supplier so you should have the best quality - don't let them get away with it!

I have emailed them , dont worry

I just want some reassurance that I have not 'imported' some horrible potato disease. What do you think?

Its likely to be poor storage, but you could post a picture for us to be certain.

Hi argyllie,

I tried photographing them but it doesnt really show well. Hopefully it is just poor storage, I was just worried by the preciseness of the small rotting circles.

I really should have photographed all of the potatoes that I received and placed the photos side by side with the pictures on the T&M website just to shame them.

Definitely the last time I buy from their website.
