Might be worth a look at your local morrisons, the other day they were selling packs of 5 seed spuds for a quid they had rooster & a few others.

Im sure wilkies had albert bartlett seed spuds in but not sure what variety. Id be ok growing supermarket ones in tubs or bags but not in my soil as im trying to make it as good and fertile as possible so last thing I want is to put it at risk.

The Albert Bartlett outfit is small fry in the seed potato industry, their main interest being ware potato production, possibly the largest producer in the UK. Their seed potato production in Scotland for 2011 for example included just 4 varieties of which they were the sole agents it seems. They were : Elfe and Marabel ( very limited amounts probably for their own use ), Anya and Purple Majesty ( Pre Basic for their own use I would think and Elite 1 for the public ).
