Sorry to be so negative but I don't think there's enough ventilation in that option and it says there's no perch included, there are no pictures of the inside either and it's so small.  It wouldn't be something I'd choose.

two other possibly cheaper plastic options are Solway and Green Frog, see links

havent used either though both have been recommended on here previously. We will probably look at these as options once our wooden coop finally collapses.

Good heavens, and someone said the Eglu was ugly!

I have an Eglu Go. Bought it when they had a £50 off offer and they do do these regularly. If you don't buy the run (which I think is way too small anyway) they can cost less than £200. They are so easy to clean, and no problem with mites yet.

I'd make your own run though, even with an w
Extension the Omlet one seems ridiculously small and very expensive.

Best wishes

Overly twee, not sure if it's double skinned as I'm meant to be making biscuits not playing on chicken forums  :D

But that's personal taste, I like the Go because it does the job with no extra gubbins, I mean what is that weather cock all about, it doesn't even spin!

Ha Ha, for a first timer I quite like the twee, but it will be a fathers day present so will keep my eye out for when they do offers leading up to then, or if you see any let me know. I'm sure I will become a frequent forumer when we start with the chickens.  :)

After saying I don't do twee I better not mention the lovely mug I got off eBay with chickens driving a tractor looked on by bemused fox and "poultry in motion" on the inside. Using it now in fact  :D

Or the chicken pin cushion my daughter made me for Christmas which actually is rather good.  I can understand the tastes of a first timer as I've only had my girls for nearly a year and still pour over my Haynes manual whenever they worry me, which is often because they are spoilt.

Off to get my hints posted around the house for my Mother's day present, I've got my eyes on an egg skelter  ::)

we do have a member on here who has one of these and she found it to be great. The only problem they had was the perch started to bend with the weight of the birds. After contacting the manufacturers I think they provided a stronger one. As this is made out of recycled plastic it isn't double skinned but neither are my solway arks and they are fine. I believe this company originally mede them out of ply but found the plastic to be a much better option. I like them (and they often have them on ebay so you may pick one up for a little bit less if you are lucky). if you check their website they have them with flowers on too - very twee and very pretty  :D
Staffies are softer than you think.

I totally agree Christine. We have the eglu cube and it is a doddle to clean, and no bending either! I still want to keep chickens whan I am an even older lady. Also agree that the runs are way too small and with hindsite and experience would not have bought the run with the cube. We made our own with an electric fence. It gives them much more space.

I learnt the hard way about the runs being too small. I have it made up in their compound with the transparent full length shade on and some corregated sheeting so the can shelter in it when the weather is bad. The food and water is in there to keep it clean/dry and the soil stays dry even in the rain so the can have a dust bath, but would never leave them in a run of that size now.

Often see them in there just chillin' though, so it can't be that bad
