Ive just abused my baby tomato plants and now all I have tomato hands.......you know what I mean don't you   

So I'm off to make pretty green lather and then murky marks on the hand towel 

know exactly what you mean.  Bet they smell  of fresh omatoes though

I saw Toby what his face on gardeners world do it with his tomato seedlings because he said that it was like the effects of a breeze on the seedlings and encouraged them to put down stronger roots and made sturdier plants. I have done this ever since and have had less spindly sedelings and sturdier plants than before.
Don't think I am imagining it. My seedlings are usually a lot less spindly than my mother's who doesn't do it because she says it is nonsense.

I get more tomatoes too.LOL

It can't hurt to do it and if it works you are quids in!
