 I have 2 acres of farmland that I bought last year, after waiting 17 years for the farmer to sell!   6 Blackrocks are now in residence secured by a 50M electric fence that is fed by solar powered battery.  Works wonders.  One fox tried to get in, electrocuted himself and has never been back!  There is a 1/2M wide weed supressant membrain under the fence to stop the grass touching it, so it really gives one hell of a kick. 

I now want to expand to 20 chicks.  The land has planning restrictions and I am not allowed to build anything - even a small shed.  BUT I can have anything that is mobile - even a shipping container. daft isnt it.  Anyway, I wondered if anyone out there had some ideas or plans that I could borrow on a large mobile chick house.  I have read through the forums and taken note of your wisdom.  Looking forward to your comments.

You want something like an old caravan chassis!  Easily moved around with a nice henhouse on it!

That reminds me, when we lived in Essex, not too far from us there was a chicken farm, but the council kept telling the man he couldn't build hen houses on the land, so he kept going round all the caravan sites, buying up all the old caravans, stripping out the furniture and leeting the chickens live there.

An idea copied by Jimmy Doherty in Jimmy's farm.  The council said oh you can't have caravans on there either.  Oh yes I can he said.  They are for chickens not people, and they are mobile!  when we left Essex, he had about 12 on there! lol

Hi that sounds great, just a point i remeber reading that councils cannot stop anyone building livstock housing, my brotherinlaw has got  fields wiyh the same restrictions but since the rules were changed he has now informed them that he will be building on the land quoting the new regulations, as yet they have not replied. I will try and find out the info
