After getting quite mediocre results from my spuds over the last few years, does anyone have a favorite fertilizer they use?

Good old 'OS MUCK'  !    Plant the spud on this and don't earth up too early.   Mulch of seaweed if you can get it.    Cheers,    Tony.

I've just put 50 barrow loads of horse doo where my 10Kg of seed spuds are going.
I was thinking of the super feed/rock compounds etc.

Spuds will always be mediocre.

Try calling them potatoes and your results will be superior.

Plenty of manure.
Work some high potash fertilizer into the soil (usually called potato fertilizer).
Not much water until they have pea sized potatoes and then plenty.

Our manure supply is free from herbicides and I've also done the bean test on it.

I tried that, unfortunately they only have eyes and no ears so they can't hear me.

That sounds Ok. I do not think you need more of anything.

I've always used Vitax Q4, based on this thread from a few years ago (which I've saved as a favourite)
