Daffodils
« on: January 21, 2012, 21:21 »
I live in central scotland and a neighbour has daffodils that have been flowering for 2 weeks now. How common is this?.  My daffodils have only just coming through the soil.

Mine are only just starting to come through, too.  It will depend on variety, of course, but it has been a particularly bonkers and confusing 12 months for weather ...
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I live to the south of central Scotland and my daffodils aren't showing at all yet - it is very early. The blubells, however, are a few inches tall - also unusual.

Just been out and looked no sign of any bluebells here. Back to the daffs, Do they not usually flower around Mothers day in March.

if you look in a bulb catalogue - different varieties flower from  March- May, give or take a week either side for weather variation  :)

There is a very large graveyard at the top of our lane, with well kept grassy banks planted with several types of daffs in swathes. The local youths have a go at them every year, but this year they have surpassed themselves and smashed them all before they could flower.

Brainless dolts!!! >:(

Still no daffs, but I noticed today the crocusses are up and some are flowering. :) I'm very impressed as they're in the muddiest part of the lawn - the dog having made her route, from which she won't deviate, over the top of them.

We seem to have about 3 inches of daff growth today. It took a day with snow on the ground for me to notice them. ::)
