Oh I do hope so, no signs of noise yet, it bock bocks like the others... gonna break my sons heart if it has to go... unless it never cries and then he can stay lol... Hopefully get a lay within the next 8 weeks

We took home a cockerel in error a few months ago and from the word go we had our suspicions. It was so much bigger than our others and its comb was larger and red from day one.

It never did crow but it did start to pounce on the others when it was about 23 weeks old so we took it back and swapped it for one of his sisters.

she's coming up to 34 weeks now and hasn't layed yet.

We also noticed with the cockerel that signs of it's spurs were starting to really show on the legs plus it used to settle down just a few feet away from the other 3 as if on guard

It's a pullet.

I would say a hen too, but check er neck feathers are they pointed or rounded? Pointed means a male usually

Here's mine for comparison where you can clearly see the pointed neck feathering.  'She' crowed about 3 weeks after this photo was taken!!

Aw  I see yours has alot more colour (Black) and much bigger tale feathers.  Theres still alittle bit of hope then.   Thank You everyone.... Hopefully come on one day and announce an egg :S

Looks like a pullet to me.  I got it right with kegs cockerel when she was unsure so fingers crossed for you.   :blink:

Looks identical to my three latest sussex  at that age.

Comb just grew massivly in a week around 26 then started laying

Pullet. Light Sussex chicks I hatched were crowing well before 20 odd weeks. Will probably lay soon as the days get longer.
