Harlequin V PFA
« on: November 12, 2011, 23:27 »
Ive always grown Pink Fir Apples, this yr i tried some Harlequins that are a cross between PFA and Charlottes. Well it worked they have defo improved on the PFA and u also have the benefit of peeling the Harlequins if you so choose. Pfa do also have a tendancy to be a bit dry, you dont have to be so careful with the Harlequins. As for storing so far both types are keeping very well in hessian sacks in the shed.
I wont be growing PFA next yr it will be Harlequins.

I just wanted to share , as this new variety is well worth getting.

I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Where did you obtain the seed MoreWhisky? Harlequin seem quite hard to get hold of.

Next year I want to grow a few of several different varieties and taste, yield and slug resistance are my top priorities but selection will be governed by what the local garden centre has in stock, which they sell loose.

I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?

With the eating qualities of charlotte and PFA what more could you want?

I grew Harlequin this year. Robust growers with a good yield, excellent eating and no nobbles.

PFA are blight prone and it is noticable that they are always first to get it.
