Moulting Ladies
« on: November 08, 2011, 17:54 »
Hi,

I would be grateful if I can pick all your collective brains!
I got my 6 girls in March when they were 3 months old and looked a bit like gawky teenagers.
My question relates to moulting I have read that in there 1st year they do not moult.  I think that I may have a couple that are moulting  but it is only there neck and tail feathers that have come out / coming out.  I know it is the right time of year for this to happen.

So my theory is that they are partially moulting - Could this be so?

I think my girls are a little advanced as I have also had one broody girl as well and people tell me she is too young for doing that!
Oh forgot to say they are wormed regulary, treated for mites etc.
Any advice greatly appreiciated.

Thanks in advance.

they have several small partial moults whilst young.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Yup my new batch are in the same position, little bit further on but mine did mini moults at around 3, 5 and 7 months.

Tail, flight and neck mainly

Hi Guys,

Thanks for that.  It's always good to be reassured that I am thinking on the right lines.
