Late Figs
« on: November 03, 2011, 07:00 »
Because of the extended warm weather down here in the garden of England.   My fig tree is still  loaded with ripe figs.  I can't eat anymore figs, 'the eye of a needle springs to mind'.
Any ideas as to what I could do with this bumper harvest?   I made fig jam last year but found it much too sweet.
There is no better show of antisipation than a man sowing seeds in a field.

You can freeze figs, and they are good to cook with afterwards. (Cut in half, laid out flat)

Fig tart is lovely, and served with blue cheese is one of our favourites  :D

It never occured to me to use them in a tart.  Will make one for afters on Sunday, the blue cheese sounds great.  The rest of the figs heading straight for the freezer.  Thanks for the tip!
