All currants and gooseberries lose their leaves in autumn, so no worries there.

It is a good opportunity to see the shape of the bush re pruning too.

I give mine fish bood & bone, plus some wood ash for potash, and then a mulch of leaves provided by the council from street sweeping, once the ground is good and soaked.

They seem to thrive alright
