Anyone bought seed from Alan Roman's?
« on: October 22, 2011, 20:16 »
I discovered their website the other day. They don't have a huge selection of varieties, but they do have quite a few that I was going to buy and at considerably cheaper prices than I've seen elsewhere. Anyone know if they're any good?

I've bought quite a bit from Alan Roman's.  Like you said, not a great deal of choice, and not much in the fancy varieties, but cheaper because no frills packaging.

Highly recommended, and last time I bought from them quick service!

I buy from them ever yr , great price great quality.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

seed quality is good, but there were no directions on the packet, only on-line, when I last bought from them.

Thanks, everyone, I'll give them a try. They're by far the cheapest source of White Lady runner bean seed I've ever come across.

I bought spud seed from them (King Edward and ratte) both came up fine. However chervil I grew from seed I bought off them was pitiful but maybe it's a tricky herb to grow. There was a nice guy on the end of the phone when I rang up for some advice. I'll use them again this year.

A thumbs up from me.  I tried them out a couple of years ago and sowed leftover seed this year and all came up ok.
