Pecking

We got 4 hens about 18 months, earlier this year they lost feathers (assumed moulting) but it been too long now and 3 have baldy bums.

Would appear that one or more are feather plucking, they are very difficult to catch.

Can any recommend a solution other than beak rings, which we wish to avoid IF possible.

You could try some of these items, especially the nutri-peck block, which will give them something to do just in case they are feather pecking out of boredom.  If it does turn out to be because of boredom you could also hang some old cd's or corn on the cob to keep them distracted.

Will try corn on cob first as given some while working at allotments, and try leaving gate to run open early pm; allowing into garden for a bit of variety!

Have pecking blocks on hand but trying to keep for 'rainy day' :)
