flowering sprouts
« on: September 28, 2011, 20:00 »
Hi I hope someone might be able to answer my question about one my sprout plants that has formed no sprouts and now has started to flower yellow flowers on a long stork on top,  none of my other sprout plants have and the rest are doing quite well.  Will the flowering plant encourage the others to do the same,  Should i take the flowering plant up?  Thankyou for your help.

Its very unusual for a sprout plant to run to seed at this time of year. All I can think is that its not a sprout at all. Any chance of a photo?
Sets a low standard and fails to achieve it.

If it was a sprout plant, the flowers would be coming out of the leaf axils, not the top of the plant.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

It sounds as if you have a type of broccoli there rather than a sprout.  Maybe a rogue seed in the pack or if your're like me  and you sow several types of seed  in one 'session', may have just got in with the sprouts.  Easy done.

It's a bit hard to tell without seeing the shape of the actual plant.

They look like rape flowers to me. It's a brassica, but not a sprout. Good luck with identifying it.

Oil seed rape is a brassica and all brassica flowers look pretty similar. We need a better view of the plant/leaves.
