Hi,

Still fairly new to this allotment game and have found that potatoes I have picked and been storing are riddled with holes etc caused by critters.  Likewise some of the veg I have grown has been attacked.  I have put down a god amount of slug pellets but seem to recall being told about certain flowers that when planted deter certain pests.

If this is right, can anyone advise me on what they would recommend and if there is anything to prevent slugs devouring my spuds that would be ideal too.

Can't think of any flowers, but was your allotment recently grass?  Wireworms can often be left behind after grass ...

The plot was overgrown for a long time. Last year was a prep year this being my first full year. Everyone seems to have nice flowers around their plots so I thought there maybe some method to it in order to deter pests

Oh right, thought you meant ones specifically for spuds!

Marigolds are often grown, plus dahlias, for starters.  Dahlias are just pretty but marigolds are said by some to ward off various insects.  Many on here say it doesn't work though.
