Chook's "ear" hole has growth-ideas please?!
« on: October 07, 2011, 18:12 »
Quick question-there are a few posts on this forum re strange head and neck movements. We just wormed our chook with fluvenbet and in spite of this she continues to stretch her neck forwards and upwards. She is just over 3 years old, is an Isa Warren who is very active, laying well. Throat is clear, nil sour crop. I had look in her left "ear"(she scratches her ears especially with the moult beginning) and what i can see is a small growth(the only difference between both ) at the upper part of ear hole.Looks like grey mucosa same as internal tissue but an outgrowth of it. No exudate, nil redness. Nostrils are fine. Could this just be a calcified node? As the behaviour hasn't settled down and is intermittent we have held off going to Vet-is this something other owners have seen in terms of structural change and if so any ideas what it is and what can be done if this is indeed the cause?
