laying in the winter

is it true that most hens don't lay through the winter? I have a barnvelder, maran, 3 sussex and an aracana (which i think aunt sally has already said will only lay in the spring and summer)

some will lay all through winter and some wont ,the lucky folks get em

Anyway if they do stop laying through the winter do we stop giving them layers pellets.

yes mate i id put em on normal feed pellets if ya want to or even seed . wheat / barley etc all i do is feed em what i normaly do but add a bit more wheat for body warmth

more to convert into fat for winter

It's not the whole of winter, IME. Just a couple of weeks in Feb, when things are at their coldest.

It depends on breed. My two hybrids lay all through the winter.

which hybryds is that then? As it it that the hens won't lay for the whole winter or just like a month or so

Many hybrids are bred for laying
