Whitey, would you mind popping your approximate location into your profile? All this talk of what you have and haven't managed to grow and we don't know where you are or even if you are in the UK, although I assume you are somewhere in England to be shopping at Wilko.  ;)

Good point I should have added a location, correct now, however I live in York. Good news is that having tried one of the purple peppers they look perfectly normal inside with green flesh. The flavour is not as pronounced as a normal green pepper but they certainly add a bit of colour to a salad.
