Poo
« on: September 01, 2011, 15:41 »
Me again - sorry!

I got 2 new girls on Saturday - they are 16 weeks+, and are vaccinated etc, and have come from a very reputable breeder. My Sussex is doing strange poo - they are not solid, and are mustardy yellow sort of colour ............... is something up with her?

Her and the new Speckledy are separated from my 2 older girls at the moment, in a separate house and run right next to my 2 older girls.

Please let me know what you think. I have tried to look for the poo pics but cant find any.

The poo pics are in Poultry FAQs under the Poultry and Pets section here http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=17568.0

mustardy yellow sounds perfectly normal caecal (sp?) poo. They usually do one greeny/grey fairly solid one in the morning first thing then a caecal one. I think the caecal ones are from the egg system, rather than the digestive sytem, but I'm not sure!

Is she well? Eating, drinking, lively etc?

Bless them (the new girls) they look lovely, but much more scaredy than my other 2 girls who were desperate for my attention from day 1! These 2 scoot as soon as I walk near, but today, whilst I was sitting on my chicken bench (I bet we all have one!!!) looking at them, they did at least look at me rather than stay hidden up near the feeders - but they really arent interested in contact at the moment!

They seem to be eating and drinking fine, but are very timid, but they are still young I guess, and its all new!

Thanks for the link to the poo pics - was exactly like one of the ceacal poo pics, so panic over!!!

Their combs (what there is of them!) have pinked up slightly since they moved in on Saturday, but what amazes me is that my other girls were like that, but I dont seem to recall noticing their combs growing, and now they are very beautiful and lovely and red!

If you have time, would any of you comment on my other thread re when to integrate them .............
