the paleness could be due to her not laying and moulting. I'm pleased that she is now eating and obviously eating well. The porridge with the layers is a very good idea. I would let her mix with the others as they are social animals but make sure the bullying doesn't get out of hand (you always have one at the bottom end of the pecking order and it looks like she is now this). If necessary fit a beak bit to the bully.
When you wormed them did you find any evidence of any round worms in their pooh?
Have you tried a probiotic? I use Avipro plus which I give my chickens after worming and after antibiotics to replenish the good gut bacteria which can be flushed out during these treatments. If you can't get this then a live unsweetened natural youghurt (not fruit) would be ok in a small amount. Try adding it to the porridge. I would feed her seperate from the others with her porridge or she may not get a look in.
Another couple of things you could try is rescue remedy and critical care formula.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Hi Joy

Thank you for your quick reply, I was hoping you would  :D  No sign of any worms I did check, I have just been on pooh patrol and the pooh is not as green by any means just a pale hint of green

I have just put her in with the others again and she seems quite happy and they are not bothering her its just the one bluebelle thats a bit pecky with her,

Poor rose, I had her as a rescue with a broken leg, she was in a plaster for 12 weeks so I really want her to be well she has had a hard life in such time she has been around

Will keep you posted,

Thanks again

if wishes were changes.......

I'm so glad to hear your little hen seems better  :D  I would feed her on her own as Joy suggests.  It could be she has been bullied off the food and that combined with worming and moulting, has taken her down a bit.

Please do let us know how Rose does  :)

Morning All

This Morning no green poo to report thus far :)

However Rose will now not eat layers pellets but happily eat mixed corn or bread and wouldnt eat her porridge mash or even tuna today

Are chickens fussy eaters ?

She seems more distressed when I take her away from the other girls so I have left her in there today when she turned her beak up at her breakfast. the other girls loved it though

Any thoughts on how to tempt a chicken with foodie treats or is it wrong to do that ?

Thanks again

Broody

cut out all treats she will eat layers when she is hungry - she is being like a child wanting sweets rather than veggies  :)

Thanks joy, will do, she appears to be gulping a lot into the air, obviously I have thought gapeworm but since she has been wormed and wormed regularly I cannot see this being the case. She still looks unwell, however when I have  given some bread to her to runs like mad to eat that, ( i know its not good for them but I just wanted to tempt her to eat to see if its bile making her poo green if she is not eating enough0

trust me to have an anorexic chicken

Thanks again will keep you posted, at least this is keeping me busy this bank holiday,  chicken watching
