do you have to deworm your chickens???  I wanted to make my son eggs this morning and it look like there was a tiny red worm in the yolk of the egg

Blood spots on the yolk or in the white are perfectly normal and OK to eat.  It occurs when the mature yolk separates from the immature yolks to enter the oviduct.

having said that... you do need to worm your chickens.  If they are in a static run, once every three months, with flubenvet (available from a vet or online), for 7 days.  You can still keep eating the eggs if you use Flubenvet too.

If your hens free range, then you can cut that down to once every six months :)

Thank you for getting back with me, I do know about the blood like spot but this was like  very small and red and it moved a little, now it was in a few eggs but there was some that was fine.....I tell you waht it look like take a ink poin and make a very  very small wiggle thats would be the size of what it look like :unsure:

The best thing to use for worming your hens in flubenvet you can order it online (animalmedicines.co.uk)and it kills worms as well as preventing them, you can also eat the eggs whist you are treating them.
