Half our site is constructed with builders' "castoffs" - the best one I've seen is about 20 huge lengths of water pipe turned into hoops to make some huge polytunnels.

And the oldboy's always telling me of stuff the workmen "gave" him (ie massive rolls of plastic sheeting, piles of roof slates).

But I suppose that's not quite nicking from work, it's more like taking from the rich to give to the poor, Robin Hood style.  :wink:
