I have noticed some very small brambles growing through from next doors garden at ground level.  I would usually try and dig these out but as they are rigt down the bottom of my garden and there is no other planting down there (just some greedy chickens) I thought i might let them grow if they would give me and my chicks some lovely blackberries to eat! 
HOW DO I KNOW IF THEY WILL HAVE BLACKBERRIES? or do some brambles not fruit?

They have small green berries which eventually turn reddish then turn black!  (Yes).    Cheers,   Tony.

Yes, but some taste sweeter than others. The only way to find out is to let a few grow...

Even if they're the sharp kind they will still be good in pies!

You'll be lucky if you get to taste any. If they are at ground level the chickens will soon have them off

And shoots growing this year will fruit next year of course
