hello everyone.
i planted my asparagus seeds about 4 years ago and tasted the first few spears this year. Yum! I left the other spindly ones to grow as I have each year. Should I be cutting these? would I get more thick spears next season if I cut all the spears that emerge during this cutting season?

The spindly ones tend to be the female ones.

These won't get any thicker, so you may as well cut them also.

Thanks DD. That was a very quick response.  Half of then have been bent over by the chickens anyway so I'll cut them all down now and leave any new growth until the autumn.
