Hi

I read a post about picking courgettes at any size. Which is all when and good but mine only seem to get to about 2 - 3" long before they either fall off, or the flower dries up and the end of the courgette also shrivels up ( looking like blossom end rot ).

Shall i just go mad and pick them at a small size and hope that others grow and they establish themeselves and get bigger in time?

Sounds as if they havn't been fertilised.  I often give mine a helping hand until they get the hang of it themselves.

They are falling off/dying because they have not been pollinated. Give them a little while and male and female flowers will sort themselves out for the bees.

If you have both flowers open at the same time then put the pointy bit of the male flower into the open female flower and Bob's your uncle

thats what i thought but didnt want to comment untill confirmed by other more experienced plotters .
so now i can say ,,    i think its a pollination problem
